Customer Privacy Statement
At South Georgia Bank, we put our customers first and take pride in offering our customers financial services that meet their individual needs. We appreciate the trust our customers have in South Georgia Bank and place the highest priority on our customers’ privacy. As a South Georgia Bank customer, you can count on responsible treatment of any personal information you share with us.

Use, Collection and Retention of Customer Information

We collect, retain, and use individual customer information ONLY when we reasonably believe it would be useful, and allowable by law, to administer to our business needs in providing products, services and other opportunities to our customers.

Maintenance of Accurate Information

We have established procedures to ensure that a customer’s financial information is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable business standards. We also respond to requests to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner.

Limiting Employee Access to Information

We limit our employee access to personally identifiable customer information to those with a business reason for knowing such information. We educate our employees so they understand the importance of customer confidentiality and privacy. We also take appropriate disciplinary measures to enforce employee privacy responsibilities.

Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures

We maintain rigorous security standards and procedures regarding unauthorized access to customer information.

Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information
We do not reveal customer account or other personally identifiable information to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the exchange of information with reputable reporting agencies to maximize the accuracy and security of the information or in the performance of bona fide corporate due diligence. There are, however, exceptions that we must honor on behalf of our customers:
  1. The information is provided to help complete a customers initiated
  2. transaction
  3. The customer requests it
  4. The disclosure is required by/or allowed by law (eg. Subpoena; the
  5. investigation of fraudulent activity).
  6. The customer has been informed about the possibility of disclosure among South Georgia Bank affiliated companies for marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication and is given the opportunity to decline.

Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationship with Third Parties
Whenever we provide customer information to a third party, we insist that the third party adhere to similar privacy principles for keeping such information confidential.

We, our, and us, when used in this notice, mean South Georgia Bank.

This is our privacy notice for our customers. When we use the words "you" and "your" we mean the following types of customers

All of our customers who have a continuing relationship with us, such as:

  • Deposit Account
  • Loan Account
  • Safe Deposit Box

We will tell you the sources for non public personal information we collect on our customers. We will tell you what measure we take to secure that information.

We first define some terms.

Nonpublic personal information means information about you that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service for you. Nonpublic personal information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records.

An affiliate os a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us, or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that owns or controlled by the same company that owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.

A non-affiliated third party is a company that is not an affiliate of ours.

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms

  • Information about your transactions with us

  • Information about your transactions with non-affiliated third parties
